Recently, the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Energy (MICE) of Cabo Verde held the launch ceremony for the “Cabo Verde 100% IP LED” project. Backed by strong qualifications in urban road lighting and close collaboration with its partners, Yaham Traffic successfully secured the EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) contract for this landmark project.
Lighting Fixtures Used in the Project
The project will replace nearly 50,000 outdated streetlights across the country with energy-saving LED fixtures. According to the minister of MICE, around 70% of the Cabo Verde’s streetlights still rely on outdated technology. The transition to modern LED solution marks a major step forward in terms of energy efficiency, lighting quality, and long-term sustainability.
Yaham Traffic has long been committed to energy conservation, carbon reduction, and digital transformation in the traffic lighting sector. With advanced LED technology, proven project management capabilities, and strong financial strength, Yaham Traffic stood out among numerous competitors to independently undertake its first international EPC project. The Cabo Verde lighting project represents a significant milestone as Yaham Traffic deepens its global presence and expands into system integration.
Located off the west coast of Africa, Cabo Verde is an island nation made up of 10 islands. The project spans eight of them, replacing nearly 50,000 streetlights across main roads, ports, airports, and tourist destinations. It is currently the largest single LED streetlight energy-saving project in West Africa. Yaham Traffic will provide a turnkey solution from pre-sale consulting, manufacturing, transportation, installation and commissioning as well as after-sale service. The entire project is expected to be completed within seven months, by early 2026.
A fresh start, a new journey. Nearly 50,000 energy-saving LED streetlights will light up streets abroad and boost confidence in “Made-in-China” going global. This breakthrough marks a new step in our international expansion. We’ll keep driving innovation, promote Chinese smart manufacturing, and contribute to the Belt and Road Initiative and sustainable development.
