Changi Airport just got that much chicer. French luxury fashion house Louis Vuitton has just opened a dazzling duplex store at Changi Airport Terminal 3’s Departure Transit Hall—the first-ever airport store of its kind in South Asia. With travel at the heart of its brand’s story, it’s fitting that Louis Vuitton should choose to open a store at Changi Airport, which is one of the busiest transport hubs in the world, connected to over 380 countries and serving almost 60 million passengers a year.
The store itself is a stunning feat of architecture: Located within the airport’s Crystal Garden, it boasts a 6.5 metre-tall LED screen that features an exclusive film created for the store; the store’s façade is made up of two layers, one made of glass and one made of copper diamonds inspired by the house’s Monogram flower.
Inside, the theme of travel is carried throughout the store. From the life size model replica of a French plane from the 1930s that immediately draws your eye upward, to the little “flying machines” that seem to carry the brand’s latest wares up in the air, no detail has been spared. Fun fact: There’s an exhibition space on the second floor of the store where visitors can explore the rich history of the house. We hear it currently has several archival trunks on display that have provided the inspiration for its hit bags such as the Petit Malle.
